Sharing the the Learning Journey: A Transformation from Traditional to Learning Organization.

When an organization decides to take the plunge to become a “learning organization”, what is the best approach to take?

One normally begins by doing some research, to find out what other companies have done. Many refer to the success of Toyota and use it as the benchmark for their company.

If Toyota is considered the benchmark of automotive manufacturing companies, what is it that sets it apart from the rest?

The main ingredient for its success is it’s philosophy. In fact it is a very simple one, to develop its people in order to achieve astounding results as a company!

Sure, there are many tools which are used in this organization, such as kanban and one piece flow. These tools have been around for a while, and are well known and used by many companies across many industries. But many others are lacking the key to making these tools work as successfully as in Toyota.

Here are some questions for you!

  1. Is providing the necessary tools to an organization enough to ensure culture change?
  2. What are some of the tools you have applied?
  3. What were the expected results of applying those tools?
  4. What were the actual results?
  5. If the goals were not met, what could have been done better?
