Matt is experienced in operational improvement/TPS (Toyota Production System) methodologies, combined with over 17 years of business (within manufacturing production, purchasing, customer service, quality, supply chain management and maintenance) experience.

Starting his journey at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Matt gained experience in the world-leading manufacturing concepts of the Toyota Production System (TPS). The corner stones of TPS: standardized work, root cause analysis (genchi-genbutsu), and continuous improvement (kaizen), and people development laid the groundwork of understanding.

From there, gaining valuable experience in medical device manufacturing, the automotive industry (at TRW, then Magna International), aerospace (Bombardier Aerospace, Commercial Aircraft division) and pharmaceuticals, Matt focused on enhancing organizations’ competitiveness and employees’ pursuit of constant problem-solving, through mentoring and coaching.

Using the concepts of TPS, Matt helped to guide these organizations in developing systems and structures, advancing a kaizen mindset and driving for innovation and evolution.

Coached by various Toyota Supplier Support Center (TSSC) mentors, as well as Mr. Hajime Ohba (former President of TSSC), he has complimented this world class training with mentoring from senior leaders at many global organizations, including Magna International, Magna Seating and Bombardier Aerospace.

Matt graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B. Sc. (Physics), and from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Diploma in Business Administration. To round out his educational experience and training, Matt graduated, with distinction, from Wilfrid Laurier University with an MBA, focused on Operations Management and Organizational Behaviour.
