The concept of information security struck me in the classic movie The Marathon Man as Dustin Hoffman is subjected to a painful experience to ensure data integrity. I don’t believe we have to go to that length. Today information security and robbery is big business.

The dichotomy is that there is such a cry for open source and transparency of information. To increase awareness and to mash up new data sets to support decision making. There is an elephant in the room.
I can’t help but marvel at the speed and accuracy that information flows on television, especially crime shows like Criminal Minds. Imagine having the correct information at right time to make those tough decisions. Are we there yet?

Obviously the difference between personal and general information is clear. Or is it? Where do you draw the line? Do you stop at your social security number, drivers licence, credit cards or do you have a higher tolerance for information breach pain.
